The emperor Shah Jahan started to perceive himself as the greates that had ever existed, gratest than every King or Emperor that had been alive before him. So he started thinking about what could he do in order to be considered the same way by everybody else. After a couple of weeks an idea came to his mind, the Empire, it was a common thing to have one Empire or Kingdom, it was even common to expand it, but none of the other Emperors nor Kings have ever had two Empires or Kingdoms.
So after several years of building finally his second Empire was done. It used to be hard at the beggining to take care of both Empires but he was able to do it, so everybody started visiting the new Empire, his new palace and so. After only a couple of weeks it became something too common for him, and the excitement that he first felt when the second Empire was finished and working for and under his power was suddenly already gone. Somehow it was like if he had one single Empire. He didn’t felt satisfied enough, and so the thouths started again.
How can I do to be the greates? Any one of those other kings and emperors can do the same thing I just did, I have to do something they never will be able to achieve.
Until one day the answer he was looking for came to Shah Jahan’s ears, he listened one of his subjects talink about this amazing monk who was staying in the village. He was traveling all over the world without nothing but a blanket and a lamp, helping people and making them all change their lives, giving them happines. Hishiryo was the Monk’s name and he didn’t even have a single rupee and nevertheless people used to give him food and share their things with him simply for being able to listen to his life changing stories.
Aparently a man in the village who had the chance to talk with him asked the monk about his one pertenece apart from the blanket, the lamp, and according to the monk’s words the lamp was magical and it’d double whatever you’d ask for.
When the Emperor Shah heared this the idea blossomed in his mind. That was what he was looking for. He could do so many things with that magical device, it seemed written, he’d became the grates emperor that had ever lived. But the Emperor didn’t realized about a small but curcial and obvious fail on his plan.
-What it is so funny? -Asked the Emperor angry to his subjects.
-Nothing my Lord. -Answered one of the men scared.
-Leave me alone with the Monk! -The emperor ordered them.
Hishiryo smiled at the men who had picked him up making a bow and they smiled back at him leaving the chamber.
-I must say that I am amazed by everything you have done Majesty, there’s no other Emperor in the world who have two Empires but you. And your palaces are magnificent. – Said with the most sincere tone the Emperor had ever heard in his whole life – I am a simple Monk but I’d be more than glad to know; what can I do for you my Lord? -Asked Hishiryo smiling at the emperor.
-I’ve heared you make people happy, I’ve heared you travel the world and don’t have anything. Tell me about it, how you do it?
-I just share my thoughts and experiences with people and try to help them out every time I can.- Explained Monk Hishiryo quietly. -I stay anywhere in the street and just cover with my blanket.
-How do you even do to survive? -Asked the Emperor intrigued.
-Well it’s easy, I love people and when you share with them people tend to share with you and help you as well when you help people.
-And all you have is that blanket? -He asked trying to find out about the lamp.
-The only material possesion I have is a little lamp, and that’s because it is a gift that I got from someone I really care a lot. It’s not worth almost anything but is the only pertenece that I have apart from my blanket becasue of the emotional value that it has for me.
-Would you mind if I see this lamp of yous? -Asked the Emperor ager to be able to even feel the “Magic Lamp”.
-Sure – Said Hishiryo with a soft voice taking his lamp out of the blanked.
The Monk gave the lamp to one of the subjects and this one gave it to the Emperor. The king took it with both hands and his eyes almost came out of his basils, his mouth opened and he turned it slowly. The engraving half faded shone illuminating his eyes.
The Emperor read the quote and gave back carefully the lamp directly to the Monk.
-That’s a beautiful lamp. – Said the king.
-Thank you. – Said the Monk taking back the lamp.
-Would you be willing to gave it away? -Asked the king proudly.
-I couldn’t give away my lamp. It is too valuable for me as I told you. I really appreciate you invited me to your palace. -The Monk turned away and got out of the palace leaving the Emperor mouth opened and extremelly angered. The emperor Shah Jahan started to perceive himself as the greates that had ever existed, gratest than every King or Emperor that had been alive before him.
